Indeed job posting cost: sponsored job pricing for employers and cost per application
Indeed is the cheapest place in the US to post a marketing role and one of the most expensive places to fill one. Three free posts a month cost nothing. The moment you sponsor a job the reported minimum is $25 a day, and a full 30 day run lands near $750.

The short answer
Indeed job posting cost starts at $0. Indeed publishes that you can post up to three free jobs per month directly on Indeed, each live for up to 30 days. Paid posts work differently: in Indeed own wording you set a budget and pay based on results, per click or per started application, depending on the budget type and market. Indeed publishes no rate card for that auction. Since July 2025 the reported minimum spend is about $25 a day per sponsored job, up from about $10, so a full 30 day sponsored run comes to roughly $750. Reported cost per click runs $0.10 to $5.00, and reported typical employer spend is $150 to $300 a month for a micro business and $600 to $1,200 for a midsize team. A 30 day post on MarketerJob is a published flat $199.

The three price tiers
How Indeed actually charges for a job post
These are three different products, not three sizes of the same one. A free listing, an advertising auction and a rented posting seat produce very different invoices, and picking the wrong one is the most common way employers overspend on a single marketing hire.
Free job post
$0
Not billed
Indeed publishes that you can post up to three free jobs per month directly on Indeed, and that each one stays live for up to 30 days. That is the most generous free tier in US job advertising, and it is three times the concurrency LinkedIn allows on its free tier.
The catch: Free posts sit in the same results as sponsored ones and lose to them. Newer paid listings push a free post down within a few days, so most of the applicant flow arrives in the first 48 hours and then flattens out.
Sponsored job
About $25 a day, reported minimum
Per click or per started application, by budget type
You set a daily or a total budget and Indeed paces delivery against it. Indeed describes the model in its own words: for paid job posts you set a budget and pay based on results, per click or per started application, depending on the budget type and market. Indeed recommends a budget from your job title, location and description, and states that the recommendation is not mandatory. Reported US cost per click runs $0.10 to $5.00.
The catch: The reported per job minimum rose from about $10 a day to about $25 a day in July 2025. Guides written before that still quote the old floor, which is the usual reason a first invoice arrives at roughly triple what the employer budgeted.
Subscriptions and resume search
$100 to $250 a month, reported
Monthly subscription, quoted per account
Indeed sells resume database access and packaged employer plans separately from job advertising. Reported figures put resume database access at $100 to $250 a month and the packaged plans at roughly $100 to $200 a month, on top of whatever the sponsored budget spends.
The catch: These are sourcing products, not posting products. Buying one does not lift where your job post ranks, and the advertising budget is still billed on top of the subscription.
Priced by situation
What Indeed costs for a real hiring situation, August 2026
Only the MarketerJob column is a published rate card. Every Indeed figure here is either what Indeed publishes as its own example or what independent US pricing trackers and employers report paying, because there is no public price list to quote. Use these to judge whether the quote in front of you is normal, then confirm inside your own account.
| Your situation | Indeed, reported | MarketerJob, published | What drives it |
|---|---|---|---|
| One marketing role, free post only | $0, three allowed a month | $199 for 30 days | The free post is genuinely free. It is also outranked by sponsored listings within days, so the flow lands early and then stops. |
| One role, sponsored at the reported floor | About $750 for 30 days | $199 for 30 days | Reported $25 a day minimum per sponsored job since July 2025, run for a full month. Close to four times a flat rate post. |
| One role, sponsored for two weeks only | About $350 | $199 for 30 days | Cutting the run short is how most employers keep a sponsored bill near flat rate. You halve the spend and you halve the exposure. |
| Three marketing roles open at once | Free, or about $2,250 sponsored | $597, or $999 unlimited | The three free posts a month allowance covers this at $0. Sponsoring all three means three separate daily budgets, not one shared one. |
| Hiring continuously through the year | Reported $600 to $1,200 a month | $999 a month unlimited | Reported typical midsize employer spend, not a rate card. Micro businesses report $150 to $300 and staffing agencies report $5,000 and up. |
| Searching candidates as well as posting | Reported $100 to $250 a month | Not offered | Resume database access is billed separately from advertising. It is a sourcing product and it does not affect where your job post ranks. |
Indeed is not the only platform pricing a job post by auction. LinkedIn runs the same model with a different floor, and both repriced inside the last three years, which is why so much of what is still ranking about job ad costs is wrong. The full picture across every US platform sits on job posting cost by platform, the flat rate case against this one is on our Indeed alternative page, and all thirteen platforms are compared side by side on where to post a marketing role.
Read the meter
Four billing details that decide your final Indeed invoice
The headline daily budget is the number every comparison page quotes. These four mechanics are what actually determine what lands on the card, and they are the ones employers tell us caught them out.
You are invoiced at $500, not only at month end
Indeed states that it sends invoices on the first day of the month to charge for the previous month clicks or started applications, and that if the balance on your account reaches a threshold of $500 it triggers an invoice even if the first day of the new month has not yet arrived. A high daily budget on a competitive marketing title reaches $500 well inside a 30 day run.
Per click and per started application both still exist
Indeed own pricing page says you pay based on results, per click or per started application, depending on the budget type and market. Indeed did pull back from the pay per application model it launched in 2021, and a great deal of comparison content now states flatly that the model is gone, but Indeed current wording keeps started applications inside the pricing definition. Check which basis your account is billing on before you set a budget.
The suggested budget is only a suggestion
Indeed recommends a budget based on your job title, location and description, and says plainly that the recommendation is not mandatory. Accepting the suggested figure on a senior marketing title in an expensive metro is the most common way employers spend several hundred dollars more than they planned to.
New US accounts get a published $75 credit
Indeed publishes a $75 Sponsored Job credit for new US accounts, expiring one year after the account is created. At the reported $25 daily floor that is about three days of sponsorship: enough to learn whether the title pulls applicants, not enough to fill the role.
An honest read
When paying Indeed is worth it, and when it is not
We sell job posts, so treat this section with the scepticism it deserves and check it against your own last three searches. Three of these six say do not spend the money, because on the wrong role that is the correct answer.
Worth paying for
The role is generalist and you need volume
Indeed is the largest US job board by traffic. On a marketing coordinator or a generalist marketing manager role, raw reach fills the top of the funnel faster than anywhere else in the country.
Worth paying for
You can live inside the free allowance
Three free posts a month at $0 is the best free tier in US job advertising, and it is the reason Indeed belongs in almost every hiring plan. If you accept that most of the flow arrives in the first 48 hours, the cost really is nothing.
Worth paying for
You are hiring across several metros at once
National coverage is where the auction earns its fee. No specialty board matches Indeed reach across twenty markets on the same day, and paying once for that breadth is cheaper than running twenty local ads.
Save your money
Finance needs the number before you commit
An auction cannot quote you in advance, and the $500 invoice threshold can land mid month rather than at the end of it. If the figure has to be signed off first, a published flat rate answers that question and an auction does not.
Save your money
The role is a specialist marketing discipline
Reach is the product, so applicants arrive unfiltered. US postings averaged 95 applicants each in 2025, up from about 46 in 2021, and on a lifecycle, technical SEO or marketing ops role the screening hours cost more than the ad ever did.
Save your money
The free run already produced nothing usable
Sponsoring the same ad buys more of the same audience. When a free run returns no shortlist, the problem is almost always the salary band or the scope of the role, not the size of the budget.
For comparison
The published alternative: one price, marketing roles only
MarketerJob lists marketing roles and nothing else, every card carries a USD salary band, and the price is on the site rather than behind a consultation. That is the whole trade against an auction: less reach, more certainty, and an audience that all does the job you are hiring for.
$199
One marketing role, live for 30 days, no auction running behind it.
$399
Featured placement, specialty spotlight and matched subscriber email.
$999
Unlimited active roles per month, for teams hiring continuously.
Frequently asked
Indeed job posting cost questions employers actually search
How much does it cost to post a job on Indeed?
It starts at $0. Indeed publishes that you can post up to three free jobs a month, each live up to 30 days. Sponsoring a job moves you onto an auction with a reported minimum near $25 a day per job, so a full 30 day sponsored run is roughly $750.
Is Indeed free for employers?
Partly. Indeed publishes a free tier of up to three job posts per month posted directly on Indeed, each live for up to 30 days, and those cost nothing. You start paying when you want a free post to keep competing with sponsored listings, or when you need more than three roles open in the same month.
How much does Indeed cost for employers per month?
There is no rate card, so the honest answer is a reported range. Micro businesses report $150 to $300 a month, midsize employers report $600 to $1,200, and staffing agencies report $5,000 and up. One sponsored role held at the reported $25 daily floor for a full month is about $750.
What is Indeed cost per application?
Indeed own pricing page still defines paid posts as billed per click or per started application, depending on the budget type and market. There is no published per application rate. What you can control is the daily budget, so the practical cost per application is your monthly spend divided by the started applications it produced.
What does Indeed charge to post a job?
Nothing for the first three posts in a month. Beyond that, Indeed charges by result rather than by listing: you set a budget and pay per click or per started application. Indeed suggests a budget from your job title, location and description, and states that the recommendation is not mandatory.
How much is Indeed Sponsored Jobs?
Sponsored Jobs has no published price. The reported minimum spend rose to about $25 a day per sponsored job in July 2025, up from roughly $10, and reported cost per click runs $0.10 to $5.00. At the reported floor, thirty days of sponsorship on one marketing role is near $750.
Why is Indeed so expensive for employers?
Because you are buying reach in an auction, and marketing titles are among the most contested. Every competing employer bidding on the same title in the same metro raises your cost per click. The July 2025 rise in the reported per job daily minimum, from about $10 to about $25, roughly doubled the entry price.
How many free job posts do you get on Indeed?
Indeed publishes an allowance of up to three free jobs per month posted directly on Indeed, with each post live for up to 30 days. That is three concurrent free roles against LinkedIn one at a time, which makes Indeed the better free tier for a team hiring more than one marketer.
What is the cost per click on an Indeed job ad?
Indeed publishes no rate. Reported US cost per click for sponsored jobs spans $0.10 to $5.00 and higher, driven by the title, the seniority and how many employers are bidding on similar roles in the same market. Senior marketing titles in large metros sit at the top of that band.
Does Glassdoor cost extra if I post a job on Indeed?
No. Glassdoor no longer takes job postings directly and now distributes listings through Indeed, so a job posted on Indeed can appear on Glassdoor without a separate fee. Glassdoor paid products for employers today are branding and company profile packages rather than job advertising.
Is Indeed or a niche marketing job board cheaper for a marketing role?
The free tier is unbeatable at $0. Once you sponsor, the comparison flips: a 30 day sponsored run at the reported $25 daily floor is about $750 against a published flat $199 for a 30 day marketing post. The gap is not just money, it is certainty and audience.
Can I set a hard spending cap on an Indeed job post?
You can set a daily or a total budget, which paces spend rather than guaranteeing a ceiling on the invoice. The number that catches employers out is the separate $500 balance threshold: Indeed states that reaching it triggers an invoice even before the month ends.
How to read the figures on this page: only the MarketerJob prices are a published rate card. Indeed publishes no price list for job posts, so every figure attached to it here is either Indeed own worked example from its pricing page or what independent US pricing trackers and employers report paying, checked in August 2026. Auction rates move weekly and contract quotes move by industry, location, company size and how many slots you buy. Verify inside your own account before you commit a budget. Indeed is a trademark of its owner and is referenced here only for comparison.
Know the number before you spend it.
An auction cannot tell you what a hire will cost until it is over. A 30 day marketing post here is $199 flat, with a salary band on every card and no invoice threshold running in the background.
